Project Overview

Aquarium lighting systems often operate continuously for long periods while generating significant heat inside compact enclosures. In marine aquarium environments, additional challenges such as humidity and salt corrosion further increase the demands on cooling components.

To support the development of a smart aquarium lighting system, a Brazilian customer partnered with EISKUHL to develop a customized DC7015 upright-strut dual-ball bearing axial cooling fan optimized for corrosion resistance, intelligent thermal control, and long-term stable operation.

The project officially entered mass production in March 2024 and has remained in stable production ever since, with consistent monthly deliveries and excellent field performance.

Customer Challenges

1. Corrosion Resistance Requirement

One of the customer’s most important concerns was environmental corrosion resistance.

Although the cooling fan does not operate directly underwater, its proximity to the aquarium—a high-humidity environment where corrosive airborne particles accumulate over time—renders standard cooling fans susceptible to corrosion of their metal components.

Consequently, the client explicitly stipulated that the fan must possess exceptional corrosion resistance to fully withstand the rigorous demands of a marine aquarium environment.

2. Intelligent Thermal Control Requirement

Unlike conventional cooling systems where the fan runs continuously after power-up, the customer required an intelligent temperature-controlled operation strategy.

Specifically:

The fan should remain OFF during startup

The lighting unit’s control board should determine when the fan activates

The fan should begin operating only after the product reaches a specified thermal threshold

3. Low Noise Performance

Aquarium lighting systems are commonly utilized in private residences, office environments, and various other living spaces. Consequently, clients require that cooling fans operate silently to avoid causing any disturbance to the surrounding environment.

4. Long-Term Reliability

Aquarium lighting systems often operate for many hours every day, making long-term stability essential.

EISKUHL Customized Solution

To address the customer’s environmental and control-system requirements, EISKUHL developed a customized DC7015 upright-strut dual-ball bearing axial cooling fan optimized specifically for smart aquarium lighting applications.

Key Customized Features

1. Corrosion-Resistant Design for Aquarium Environments

To improve environmental durability, EISKUHL optimized the fan for operation in humid and potentially corrosive conditions.

The solution included:

Corrosion-resistant structural materials

Enhanced protection for critical components

Improved durability for humid operating environments

2. Intelligent Delayed Start-Up Function

One of the project’s most important technical requirements was ensuring compatibility with the lighting unit’s intelligent thermal control system.

The customer required:

The fan must NOT start immediately after power-on

The lighting PCB must control fan activation

The fan should activate only after internal temperature rises to a predefined threshold

To achieve this, EISKUHL customized the fan’s electrical compatibility and control response characteristics to integrate smoothly with the customer’s lighting control board.

3. Stable Low-Noise Operation

The cooling fan was optimized for quiet performance to suit indoor environments where aquarium systems are commonly installed.

4. Long Service Life and Reliable Performance

To ensure long-term, uninterrupted operation, EISKUHL employs industrial-grade dual ball bearing technology and a highly reliable brushless motor architecture. This design helps guarantee an exceptionally long product lifespan, stable and efficient heat dissipation, and reliable performance during continuous daily use.

Project Results

The project officially entered mass production in March 2024.

Since then, the cooling fan solution has maintained:

Stable monthly deliveries

Consistent product quality

Reliable low-noise performance

Excellent durability and lifespan performance

According to customer feedback:

The intelligent temperature-control logic operates smoothly

The corrosion-resistance performance meets application requirements

No major lifespan or operational issues have occurred during production use

The project has become a stable long-term cooperation case between the Brazilian customer and EISKUHL.

Conclusion

Through customized corrosion-resistant design, intelligent control compatibility optimization, and reliable dual-ball bearing technology, EISKUHL successfully developed a specialized DC7015 cooling fan solution for smart aquarium lighting systems.

The project demonstrates EISKUHL’s ability to provide highly customized thermal management solutions for demanding environmental and intelligent-control applications.

Since entering mass production in March 2024, the project has maintained stable delivery performance, excellent product reliability, and strong customer satisfaction.
